Product Description
I purchased this 8×10 Deardorff View Camera V8 new, along with the vintage B&L Zeiss Protar Series VII Triple Convertible Lens (11-7/6 In. f-7, 18-7/8 In. f-12.5, 23-1/8 In. f-12.5), from Jeffrey Kay at The Lens and Repro Equipment Corp. in New York City, one year out of high school in 1981. I had taken a class in Platinum Printing at Parson's School of Design with Alan Newman the previous year, and, determined to follow in the footsteps of Edward Weston, Alfred Stieglitz, and Paul Strand, I upgraded from my Graflex 4x5 Crown Graphic so as to be able to make 8x10 inch contact prints in my new medium.
One year later I dragged the Deardorff and ensemble to Haifa, Israel, where I was blessed to join the staff of the Bahá'í World Centre's Audio-Visual Department for a period of four years.
